So... this is not a blog I want to write. I just wanted to be clear about the canceled gig tonight. I was in contact with someone back in July about playing a charity event at a tavern in Haddon Twp, NJ on December 5th. I agreed to play, and we have been planning on it since that time. The organizer said that she would contact closer to the event to nail down final details. However, I never heard from her again, and despite repeated attempts to get in contact with her, I was unable to get a hold of her.
Last night, I called the tavern to see if they knew anything. As far as they were aware, no show of any kind was taking place. The owner recalled speaking with someone several months back who wanted to do a charity show... but said that he told her to come back closer to the event, and they'd see what they could do. But they never saw her again either.
So, the show tonight is canceled. However, I wanted to be clear that it is NOT the fault of the tavern, nor does the fault does not lie... or lay... how about sit... with us. I apologize to anyone who was planning on attending. This is certainly not how I like to run things. Believe it or not, this is the third time this year that something like this has happened... People plan charity events, and they get other people involved, and then, for one reason or another, they back out at the last minute. Frankly, I'm getting really annoyed about this type of behavior. Wah wah wah.
So, I think we've all learned a valuable lesson here: Don't plan a charity event unless you're going to go through with it. It's just wrong. It hurts your charity, and it hurts bands... And the people who might have attended.
Again, please accept my apologies if you were going to come out tonight. We WILL be playing tomorrow at the Black Tie & Blue Jean Ball, so please come out and hang with us there. Or, if you're busy tomorrow, we WILL be playing at the Auburn Road Vineyards next Saturday. We'll see you then!
